FREE and open to the public; donations are welcomed

In celebration of Earth Day, the UNC Charlotte English Department is co-sponsoring an public event with the Botanical Gardens called “Gardens and Verses” which focuses on the relationship between humans and the nonhuman world.

Poetry, prose readings, and open mic will occur in the Gazebo in the Harwood Garden. Tables will set up for composing original work on site at the pond and near the stone outcropping by the Moon Gate in the Harwood Garden as well as in the Van Landingham Glen (with hammocks!), and possibly other sites in gardens. Interested participants may take part in a scavenger hunt to find plants referenced in the texts.

Free pizza will be provided (while supplies last).

In addition, this year’s event will feature a concert by the CPCC Early Music Consort from 12-12:30 p.m. and wandering musicians from 12:30-1:30 p.m
