Music in the Gardens: Floralia

Date: Wednesday, May 8th (rescheduled from 5/1)

Time: 12:00-1:00pm

Location: Gazebo in the Susie Harwood Garden

Performers: Members of the Early Music Consort of Central Piedmont Community College

Surround yourself with music and flowers with the UNC Charlotte Botanical Gardens’ nod to Floralia–a celebration of Flora, the Roman Goddess of flowers, vegetation, and fertility. This celebration gradually transformed into May Day, celebrated on or near May 1 in much of Europe where it is considered a public holiday and celebration of the beginning of spring.

You are encouraged to bring your lunch to enjoy near the Gazebo while listening to live Baroque and Renaissance music on period instruments.

This is a free event, and is open to the public. No registration required.

“Music is a moral law. It gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination, a charm to sadness, and life to everything. It is the essence of order, and leads to all that is good, just and beautiful, of which it is the invisible, but nevertheless dazzling, passionate, and eternal form” – Plato
